Communication has only been the tip of the iceberg for Social Networks in the twenty first century. It has opened the doorways to many more avenues such as business, referrals, affiliates and much more.
However, to take the most out of the social networks you need to grab the attention of your users and make them follow you at own will instead of chasing them to follow you. Our post today will be divided into several categories followed by a general introduction and each social network will be separately explained so you can jump onto the one you feel like engaging your users into.
Some General Basic Information of Social Networks
You must be all aware of this information so just glide over it, in case you are not so familiar make sure to note them down deep in your brain as they are the basic set of rules and is going to help you a lot.
In every social media networks depending on the niche or community of people you follow, you will be able to generally categorize users broadly in the below three types:
Buzz Creator: These are people who are generally seen spearheading a social media campaign or the main guys generating the buzz around the topics related to your niche or just the guys who remain in focus. They stir up the other users to share and engage in the conversations started by them. The more of them you can have in your pack the better for your campaign.
Sharer: These are the group of users who are more interested in sharing their views instead of heading a conversation and are very useful to bring other commentators and increase the engagement. These users also help in going a news or topic viral if a brand can get shares from them in large quantity.
Joiner: These groups of users are least active in the social media and they only tend to absorb more information and news from the groups. They rarely join conversations and mostly like to observe ongoing debates. If these groups of people are motivated enough by various means from buzz creators they do tend to join the ongoing hot debates or conversations.
So now let’s go ahead and jump and go ahead to see how we can engage users in the top Social Networks.
Facebook:
Facebook does not need any explanation . If any website or blog is active enough in the social Networks, they must be aware that still now Facebook provides the highest number of referral visit to any website taken in a random sample. So how to do it for your website or blog? Let’s go ahead!
1. Ignite A Conversation
Get a current debated topic or a one you feel which can be quickly ignited, or simply ask a question to some your close friends or followers. Once they reply make sure you involve more and more person onto the topic. Ask their views, see how the topic is performing and let it go by the wind. However always make sure to put a leash if you see it is going in the unfriendly zone or that which would not help you in any way. Do make sure you keep an authority over the conversation and input your views and choices in between. Do not abandon the debate in the early stages as it might not lead to results you want from it. This will not only help you to establish your authority but will also do the same for your brand.
2. Give An Incentive.
Everyone likes to be rewarded; it should not always be in the form of a monetary gain but can also be in the form of some limelight during the ongoing conversation. Like the comments that you think adds value to your conversation go ahead and thank them personally. If your budget permits share a discount coupon with them or something that might help keeping the conversation going forward. The small gifts will not only make sure your current engagement will run successfully but will also pave the road for a new one in future.
3. Share Broadly Sharable Content
Broadly shareable contents are the contents which do not require specific set of knowledge or skills to be understood. Hence they appeal to everyone and can be shared by anybody. These types of posts or shares go viral very quickly and hence should be used quite often to give you a good exposure.
4. Appeal To Your Audiences Emotions
Every human being has emotions and if you can click onto that nothing can stop him from sharing that to their friends and followers. For example share something from old schooldays everyone has gone to one and mostly all your audiences miss those good old days. Bring the nostalgia back to them and they would be happy to share it with their friends and family. Wouldn’t you?
5. Stress On Rich Media Contents.
Even though we all work hard to earn our bread and butter we never feel bad to sit back and watch some funny little classy gag, to give the routine a break. Why not use the opportunity to promote yourself in that short window. Metrics show images and videos are the most shared contents in facebook. So go ahead and appeal to the funny side of your audiences.
Note: However if you are promoting a brand it would be best to share contents or medias related to the topic as that would be more appreciated by your viewing audiences.
6. Choose The Best Time To Share Contents on Social Networks
You should always choose the best time to share the contents with your target audiences. Though it gets complicated I you have audiences from different time zones. Still I will tell you the basics. Research has shown that the best time to share your content when your maximum audiences are back from work and is socializing on the networks. That typically ranges from 8Pm to 7am. You are most likely to get hits at its maximum on that time. Also make sure you maintain an approximate schedule of engaging often and in a timely fashion.
7. Always Shuffle Your Contents.
Everyone gets bored with similar types of content being shared every day, and hence needs changes frequently to keep them engaged. If you keep on sharing the similar contents days after days you will feel the punch as you will see decreasing amount of activity with time and will get to a dead stop at a time. So just go ahead and make it a habit of sharing varied and useful content that your audiences will love all the time.
End Note
Even though we have mentioned the ways to effectively engage users these are not the only ways and you can always create your own style. Also experiment and most effectively act. Don’t be scared to go out on the stage as in the beginning it will take some time to master the skills of effectively engaging. But you will notice you are able to steer the audiences in the Social Networks slowly. Do visit us back to know how to effectively engage followers in twitter in the second part of the post.
